De whereabouts van hoogtechnologisch ondernemerschap

Vlaanderen wil zich heroriënteren naar een kenniseconomie. Deze visie heeft de Vlaamse Regering vorm gegeven onder andere in het globale toekomstplan Vlaanderen in Actie. In de beleidsnota’s Economie en Innovatie 2009-2014 wordt gewezen op de noodzaak aan krachtige, stimulerende en omkaderende initiatieven in de transformatie naar een innovatieve en kennisintensieve economie. Op het vlak van het creëren van nieuwe (industriële) spin-offs en spin-outs worden al heel wat inspanningen geleverd en velen onder hen hebben reeds bewezen een grote economische impact te creëren. Maar er is nog verbetering mogelijk, veel potentieel blijft onvoldoende benut. We kunnen spreken van een duidelijke valorisatiekloof. De nood aan nieuwe mechanismen om kenniswerkers aan te zetten tot ondernemen en de overvloedig beschikbare kennis te valoriseren is groot. Net zoals alle Europese landen is Vlaanderen blijvend op zoek naar de succesformule om ondernemen in de hoogtechnologische sector te bevorderen, om onderzoekers succesvolle ondernemers te laten zijn, om werknemers nieuwe niches te laten verkennen en ondernemers binnen het eigen bedrijf te zijn.

Op het event wordt de meest recente IWT-studie "De rol van het ondernemersteam in het succes van technologische starters" officieel aan u voorgesteld. Prof. dr. Bart Clarysse maakt u wegwijs in het profiel van deze ondernemers, ondernemersteams en ondernemingen, de oorzaken en evolutie van conflicten in ondernemersteams en de succesfactoren van geslaagde teams. Prof. dr. Tom Elfring gaat dieper in op de rol van netwerken voor succesvol ondernemerschap. Hoe komt een ondernemer aan een goed netwerk en hoe moet dat netwerk worden opgebouwd en onderhouden? Wat is eigenlijk een goed netwerk?

Tijdens de workshop die hierop volgt gaan we samen met u op zoek naar nieuwe inzichten over "Hoe steun aan starters en spin-offs effectiever maken" en krijgt u de kans uw ervaring over dit onderwerp te delen.

TTO Flanders annual event 2012

Goal and background: As part of its activities TTO Flanders organizes an annual event for all university technology transfer advisors to reflect and inform on typical issues and exchange best practices. The aim is to provide lectures that are very focused and practical, providing several real-life examples.

Starter Seminars

The fundamentals of business and (technology) entrepreneurship

The VUB Technology Transfer Interface (TTI) wishes to create more awareness of entrepreneurship with researchers and young professionals. Together with the VUB department of Business Economics, the TTI organizes the Starter Seminars. These seminars provide a short but intensive course on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business. In eleven 3-hour sessions, a variety of topics is covered such as developing a business plan, finance, marketing, the complex issues surrounding patenting,... . Students of this program will acquire the vocabulary and mindset needed to think intelligently about their potential venture and thus interact more efficiently with tech transfer offices, investors and other partners.

The seminars are especially destined to students and researchers of the VUB but are open to anyone interested.

11 sessions on Tuesdays from 6.15 till 9.15 PM, from October till December 2012, and on Thursday November 22.

24th May 2012 Knowledge for Growth at the ICC Ghent

On Thursday 24 May 2012, FlandersBio organizes the 8th edition of its annual life sciences convention Knowledge for Growth at

the ICC Ghent.

The principal ingredients of Knowledge for Growth are networking, keynote biotech and finance talks, a trade and poster

exhibition and a Job Fair, giving companies and jobseekers in the life sciences an opportunity to get to know each other.

The participants are biotech, medical technology and pharma companies, as well as academic research institutes and providers

of capital, services and technologies to the life sciences community. More than 1000 individual participants (61% industry,

39% academic) and 330 companies & organizations active in life sciences were present at KfG 2011. This makes Knowledge for

Growth Europe's largest regional biotech event.
